Our Work

Lucky Seventeen Entertainment, LLC is an innovative creative content, production, commercial, branding, and live events company providing producing and consulting services. Following is a sampling of our projects led and executed by Founder and CEO Jose Luis “JL” Martinez.

MARCUS

We were producers on this award-winning feature film, written and directed by J.R. Poli. The film was picked up by Gravitas and now available for rent or purchase on VOD and STARZ Network. Read the synopsis and watch the official trailer below.

Marcus has a checkered past and an unstable present. As he struggles mightily with a mental illness, unexpected news brings a new opportunity for him to right old wrongs and make amends. With the hopes of reconciling with his estranged daughter, Marcus leaves his life behind and sets off on an adventure to find purpose, forgiveness and redemption. But Marcus will have to face the consequences of his past life and overcome the greatest obstacle of all in order to find happiness: Himself.

The film stars Owen Miller and features Paul Wight among a great cast.

Miami Media & Film Market

Co-founded and provided the creative direction for what is now considered Florida’s top business conference for the film and media industry. Organized 11 years, and counting, of marquee panel discussions with major Industry players including Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA winners along with international pitch & script competitions, networking events, and year-round development initiatives connecting the local Industry with the global entertainment community.

Hialeah Park Studios

A two year strategic consultancy to transform an historic Miami venue sitting on almost 200 acres into a vibrant entertainment and production hub. During this time, multiple feature films, television series, and over a dozen music videos and commercials including a global campaign for Hasbro’s NERF as well as a music video featuring Natti Natasha (the number one female artists on YouTube). In addition, a series of live events including The Survivors Concert benefit and a cabaret show featuring Emmy Award winning writer and entertainer Luis Santeiro were both major successes.

Atomic Digital Media

Wrote, Directed, and Executive Produced hundreds of hours of quality family and children’s videos and digital series including the award-winning Explora. Oversaw the creative development, production, post production, marketing and distribution of the series as well as a talented crew of local animators, writers, directors, crew and associate producers.

Connect Cuba Campaign

Working with the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FHRC), led a team to create, brand, launch, market and promote an ambitious media campaign to bring awareness, and ultimately more open internet access directly to the Cuban people. The campaign had a global reach and impact, even reaching the cover of Time Magazine.

Miami World Cinema Center

Led the creative direction and multiple productions as Producer or Executive Producer for Miami World Cinema Center, billed as the “first nonprofit film studio,” the MWCC  focused on seeking and developing filmmaking talent in the creative city of Miami. The project was a recipient of the prestigious Knight Foundation’s Arts Challenge, ensuring the production of local projects by aiding in securing financing, talent, and distribution. More importantly, MWCC created a network of filmmakers, providing a concrete foundation for cinematic projects and future collaborations. 

Survivors Concert

Consulted and Produced The 1st Annual Survivor’s Concert, benefiting the ML Cars for a Cure Foundation and The University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Some of Freestyle’s top acts performed from Erotic Exotic, Coro, Angel-A Love (formerly of TKA), and headlined by the legendary Lime. The show also featured local band Mantrap. The bands played incredible sets to a full house, all in good spirits, celebrating the brave survivors who have overcome hard battles on the road to recovery. In addition, a documentary was produced, led by high school students from the mass communication program at The City of Hialeah Educational Academy (COHEA), with additional support from the Digital Media Academy at Westland Hialeah Senior High.

Miami Rocks Our Troops

Miami Rocks Our Troops was a benefit concert hosted at the University of Miami’s Watsco (formerly Bank United) Center. The event raised much needed funding and awareness for U.S. Veterans and their families adjusting to life after service. The concert featured international music stars from Billy Ray Cyrus and Billy Gibbons to Jon Secada and Jose Feliciano. A TV documentary was also made to further awareness and the cause for helping Veterans.

7Bar Foundation (Lingerie Miami)

Led the business development, and production for an MTV collaboration with MTVU, for 7Bar Foundation’s Lingerie Miami charity event. Eva Longoria and Veronica Webb hosted the event that raised more than $200,000 to benefit global microfinance organizations that help benefit and empower impoverished women who earn less than $1 a day in six countries including Colombia, the United States, Brazil, Jamaica, Mexico and India. Featured speakers included Deepak Chopra while Supermodels walked the runway for charity in couture designs by Agent Provocateur, Fifi Chachnil and Carine Gilson.

Bio


Jose Luis “JL” Martinez is a producer, consultant and director. He began his career as a booking agent for South Florida talent in Miami Beach. In Los Angeles, he worked on a motion picture desk at ICM Partners, one of the premiere global talent agencies in the entertainment industry. Mr. Martinez was involved with the Miami Film Festival to help plan and execute its 25th anniversary anniversary edition. He went on to provide business development for the 7Bar Foundation’s unique “Lingerie Miami” charity event benefiting microfinance initiatives for women, and creative direction for the Miami World Cinema Center, where Mr. Martinez also holds various producing titles on independent films which have premiered at multiple international film festivals such as Miami, Marbella, and South by Southwest. He architected the “Connect Cuba” campaign for the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FHRC), an effort to bring open internet and human rights awareness for the Cuban people. Since 2010, through co-founding and creative direction of the Miami Media & Film Market (MMFM), a yearly industry event hosted by CAMACOL, the Latin Chamber of Commerce of the US, Mr. Martinez has organized, and moderated panels with a wide cross section of entertainment and media professionals from around the world. His latest projects include Executive Producing for Atomic Digital Media, a media company creating digital content for kids and families, and consulting for Hialeah Park Studios. He has also produced live events including Miami Rocks Our Troops and The Survivors Concert benefits. Most recently, he produced the award-winning feature MARCUS and executive produced a digital campaign "The Amparo Experience" for The Real Havana Club. Mr. Martinez graduated with honors from the University of Miami’s School of Communication, majoring in Motion Pictures and Theater Arts. Jose Luis’ greatest motivation and guiding light is his beautiful Italian wife Silvia and their three wonderful kids, Sophia, Layla, and Gabriel.
